From the day I walked into our family business some 10 years ago when they were using just a fax machine to take orders, I knew the exact steps to take to build the business and take it to the next level - something others may have found overwhelming.
I created their first marketing strategy and team (also building their first Facebook page) and integrated the website order process into the ordering system, thereby automating the process. We built a heavy events schedule with workshops, VIP shopping nights and community events, including a very successful brand alignment / partnerships team dealing with Fox Studios and Strictly Ballroom, giving the company valuable TV airtime. Next, a successful social cause after opening and supporting a dance school in Sri Lanka. The family business absolutely boomed and then won a Telstra Small Business Award - all resulting in a complete turnaround for the company in just a few years.
My absolute gift is helping people bring creative visions to life to help a business reach success. I can see those visions and feel them and more importantly I know what the process is in order to implement the staff / interns, work flow and budget to make it happen. I care deeply about seeing Australian fashion succeed and do have a lot of requests for my time. I only have a limited number of appointments available each week to be able to serve and give back. In my one hour sessions we constructively go through where you are up to, what your main pain point is in business at the moment and put a plan in place to help you get to where you need to be. When needed I can contact / call on my contacts to help put you in touch with the best person to see you on your journey. The hour sessions are run using Zoom video conference so we have a face to face meeting - the link to access my video conference will be emailed with a brief questionnaire once the booking has been made. I will spend time prior to our meeting reviewing the questionnaire so our time is best spent.

I was so excited to hear what you had to say (even for the second time) about event planning and even more eager to hear specifics about the fashion industry.
I felt everything you said is really important to consider even when it seems like common sense, but can be so easy to forget. For example, in each session the number one thing I remembered was to always consider the people you are working with. Whether that be the volunteers for an event or the most important attendee, you need to put yourself in their shoes and make their experience wonderful. (the people from the Seagestrum event should take your advice)
I felt it was super helpful for someone who has no experience in the field yet. I got a lot of my questions answered that I had felt too stupid to ask anyone else before. Like how to navigate a networking event. The two rounds and don’t make it to the bathroom idea is funny, but actually super helpful!
I think it was really important for me to hear all this before heading in to the job hunt post-graduation. I now know what to keep in mind in connecting with people and how to present myself and I’m honestly not as nervous as I was before. I haven’t had the chance yet to practice anything you taught, but I am ready when the time comes!
