BRISBANE FASHION MONTH

Passionate about seeing the Brisbane / Queensland fashion community continue to learn and grow through an annual event to showcase, network and engage better, I created Brisbane Fashion Month in 2016.  I was required to build the entire business from capital funding through sponsorship proposals, employ staff, create a budget and then roll out the strategy to see the event come to fruition.

The series saw me running the following highlight events:

  • A pop up store where I organised shop fit out, staffing and all accounts for a selected number of designers

  • An annual competition with all the correct legalities and prizes to encourage young designers

  • Runways shows, complete with full back of house management, venues, catering, ticketing and paying designers to participate in the show

  • Public displays - for example at Brisbane International Airport showcasing 20 mannequins of Qld fashion to thousands of travellers

  • Practical sewing workshops

  • Q&A series interviewing the likes of Kellie Hush (Harper's Bazaar Australia) and Professor Jimmy Choo

Brisbane fashion month was built as a profitable company which I sold in early 2018.
